Day 58-59: On the road to St. John’s

Sir Richard Squires Memorial Provincial Park, NL >> Lumsden, NL >> Lockston Path Provincial Park, NL (via Bonavista and Trinity)
500 miles ridden/10.5 hours

I was all thumbs today; definitely sick. Didn’t even get on the road until 10a and had to stop riding at 4p (and thought it was closer to 6p). Only made it to Lumsden; I was hoping to make it to Terra Nova National Park, but man, I’m beat. So trying to do some planning for the days ahead, assuming I’m only getting 6 hours on the bike from here on out. That would throw a serious wrench in my plans.

Took a bunch of Advil and crashing well before sundown. This will be the most sleep I’ve gotten since the trip began. I think it’s the 50 degree temp swings: ~100 during the day and only 50 at night. Something weird about last night though – I woke up so thirsty, as if I hadn’t had a drink of water in a week. (Possibly a reaction to something I ate?) So I stocked up on H2O and Powerade.

So far, all the Visitor Information Centers I’ve stopped by have been closed because it’s a holiday weekend… But isn’t that when people would be more likely to visit and they should be open?!??

Can’t believe I might need another rear tire before I get home. I would’ve never thought it possible, but I looked at it tonight and most of the tread is already gone. I’ll check again at St. John’s and call the Honda dealer there and in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
